Big Sky's winter season offers superb downhill and cross-country skiing, and it boasts 4,350 vertical feet, 150+ trails and 23 lifts. Downhill skiing here is spread over three mountains (Lone Mountain, Andesite Mountain and Flat Iron Mountain) and features state of the art lifts, short or no lift lines and a superb international ski school. This south facing skiing area has been described as offering expert skiers European-like high, open face skiing, with chutes and couloirs and extreme pitches of more than 50 degrees
