Sugarloaf USA is Maine's biggest ski mountain, featuring the only timberline lift service skiing in the East. With a continuous, one-mountain vertical drop of 2,820 feet, the longest in the East, and a summit elevation of 4,237 feet, Sugarloaf USA boasts of more than 45 miles of trails ranging from novice to expert-only. One hundred twenty-eight trails traverse Sugarloaf USA's 1,400 skiable acres, including three trails more than three miles long, three terrain parks and a half-pipe. Sugarloaf USA's 4,237-foot summit is served by a high-speed quad, and the rest of the mountain is well-serviced by a high-speed super-quad and two high-capacity quad chairs, a triple and eight double chairs, and one surface lift. Snowmaking covers trails in all 15 lift areas. Grooming is performed nightly by 12 Bombardier machines, which cover a distance equivalent to the distance between Portland, Maine, and Chicago on a given night.
